ALMA conference in Melbourne Print E-mail
Wednesday, 07 November 2007

The ninth ALMA conference was a wonderful occasion. It saw women dancing at the Zoo, debating politics, leadership and climate change, meeting old and new friends, and honing their footy and circus skills. Thanks to all those who contributed to making it such a ball, particularly the Melbourne conference team.

Photos and papers from the conference will be up on this site soon...

Dr Leslie Cannold and Prof Deb Colville gave inspiring talks on leadership, ethics and feminism. Dr Liz Rickman gave a powerful address on the health effects of climate change. And Carol, Kath and Sue brought home the shocking truth about what can happen when lesbian partnerships are not recognised, and how important it is to know what our legal standing is.

We were particularly delighted to see so many students attend, and to meet so many new ALMA babies and children.

A new committee was elected, and we will have details up on the site soon.

Health Tip

Women over 20, is your health worth 15 minutes a month? Monthly breast self-exams increase your chances of finding breast cancer early.
